Fun facts

I was a Fulbright scholar to Germany and worked in diplomacy at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Washington, DC (my first professional job).

My mom in PA cut out the national McMinnville story about Luke Buchheit taking 17 young women to prom — and I found it in my files years later, after we had moved to McMinnville.

My favorite children’s book growing up was Beverly Cleary’s Emily’s Runaway Imagination, based in Yamhill.

I won the first ever Live-Action Competitive Oregon Trail at the Willamette Mission Museum in Salem.

I have served as PR representative for the Terroir Creative Writing Festival since 2014, and launched its first fundraising program in 2025. Our fundraising efforts support the attendance of the Mac High Grizzly Poetry Club at the festival.

My personal blog about living in Salem when we first moved to Oregon was picked up as a column by the local alternative weekly, then the Statesman-Journal. It was called Desperately Seeking Salem.

A feature I wrote for Marie Claire magazine won an honorable mention in the Perfumed Plume Awards for fragrance writing.

My husband and I met as camp counselors at the German-language summer camp Waldsee.

Portland really brought the flowers today for the @downtownpdx Bloom festival! Just a few of my favorites. As always, I brought my mom 🥰.
