Hi! I'm Emily Grosvenor, a writer, design editor and home consultant. That's me with my chicken, Regina George, who despite her name is the nicest girl in our flock.
I've written about places and spaces for over a decade. I'm Editor of Oregon Home magazine, a quarterly home design publication based in Portland, Ore., and my work has also appeared in The Atlantic, Marie Claire, Good Housekeeping, Salon, and Sunset. Recently, I also took on the role as Editor of Nester, Willamette Week’s new design publication.
I love shiny things and home design, but beyond that, my eye is drawn completely to people who are going through life’s big transitions by re-doing where they live, whether they are adjusting their homes to get along with other humans, exploring their sense of self, or empowering themselves to make contributions to the world outside the home.
Several years ago, I got my certificate in Feng Shui and began helping my friends and clients adjust the messages in their homes to help them make shifts in their lives. This work is the subject of my first book, Find Yourself at Home: A Conscious Approach to Shaping Your Space and Your Life, out from Chronicle Prism in June, 2023.
I live with my partner and two sons in a normal suburban home made magical through never-ending house projects in McMinnville, Ore., where I have been a work-at-home writer for 15 years.
